Summer pickings

22 Jul

As we made plans for the summer, I knew our back-and-forths would make it hard for me to do much writing. So I decided to keep it simple and combine poetry-writing with my love of photography… a sort of haiga.

Here are three gardens I snapped in last little while (sadly none of them are mine).

Why, thank you, Ruth! As you can tell, I love photographing them… they’re beautiful and
      they stand still!

a favorite flower is the hollyhock. I remember making little dolls from those blooms. Love each one of your “garden musings”, Violet.

What lovely summer pickings these are, Violet! I am forever photographing others’ gardens as well… sigh. I particularly love that flouncy seersucker. Thank you!

Lovely… photos and words! I especially like your lines for hollyhocks “in flouncy summer sundress… of rose seersucker.” My grandmother’s yard was bordered by hollyhocks; I remember making princess dolls of them.

Aren’t you lucky to have been spending time with these gorgeous gardens? You pinpointed vibrant, true descriptors for your flower scenes. I can see it!

Each one of these poems is beautiful and poignant. Love this one especially:
    “Hollyhock—so cute
    in flouncy summer sundress
    of rose seersucker”
My mom made me seersucker sundresses when I was a girl – the epitome of summer. Thank you for reminding me of those dresses, Violet! =)
