Spring journal

18 Mar

Spring has sprung and every day something new pops!  My camera has been busy. I take photos on our morning walks and often write briefly about what I’ve seen later as a sort of nature diary. Today, three recent entries…

Hyacinths – Photo © 2016 by V. Nesdoly

Winter / Spring

Winter’s grudge farewell
via two-faced Rain
(under grey nourishes change)

Spring’s hallelujah
Forsythia bursts golden
Hyacinths sweeten the air.

March gales do Spring’s inspections.
Not all that blooms is assured a future.
Catkin-laden branches
perish in their prime.

Clematis armandi – or Evergreen Clematis – Photo © 2016 by V. Nesdoly

White blooms

Clematis armandii
Spring’s preposterous happiness–
her star!

This stop was surely a delight. I’m not sure which I enjoyed more, the poetry or the photography. Those pictures are amazing! What are you using to take your photos? I’m guessing it isn’t your phone. Like you, I’m singing since spring said hello….and I’m okay with winter’s “grudge farewell.” It is time.

What a wonderful poetic garden tour, Violet! Thank you. You’ve captured the gifts and the wrath of tumultuous spring weather. (I just love saying “Forsythia,” don’t you?)

I know the bulbs set the early tone, but catkins are still a favorite to see when I really know it’s spring at last. Sorry for the windy wreck of those, but still love the picture. The clematis is so gorgeous too, those stars are in my past, too. I love that “winter’s grudge farewell”, Violet. Thanks for taking us on a walk with you.
