Adolescence

Adolescence

Five tomatoes ripening
on my window ledge
four are green and hard and small
the fifth is on the edge

of young tomato adulthood
large, red-green and blushing
cast out from every unripe vine
of gossiping–and wishing.

Wow! I love the “blushing” and the “cast out.” :)

Came over from Tweetspeak Poetry. Your poem makes me think of my teens–13 and 15.
