Adolescence
Five tomatoes ripening
on my window ledge
four are green and hard and small
the fifth is on the edge
of young tomato adulthood
large, red-green and blushing
cast out from every unripe vine
of gossiping–and wishing.

Wow! I love the “blushing” and the “cast out.”
Thanks, Monica!
Came over from Tweetspeak Poetry. Your poem makes me think of my teens–13 and 15.
Thanks, Megan. Yep, you got my point.
